General Meetings

Our general meetings (when held) are on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm and held at the Port Fairy Museum and Archives. 

The next General Meeting will be held on 10th April 2018 at 7.30pm. The venue is the old Courthouse building, 30 Gipps Street, Port Fairy.

January - General meeting with a speaker.

February - Annual General Meeting.

March - No meeting.

April - General meeting with a speaker or activity

May - General meeting with a speaker or activity.

June - No meeting  

July - Lunch for members on the second Tuesday, venue to be decided.

August - No meeting.

September - General meeting with a speaker or activity.

October -  General meeting with a speaker or activity.

November - General meeting with a speaker or activity.

December -  Lunch for members on the second Tuesday, venue to be decided.

Committee Meetings:  At least four meetings per year,  January, March, August and December.

Extra meetings, date and times, to be decided by members of the committee.




Annual Events

The Annual General Meeting:

Second Tuesday in February at 7.30pm. In 2018 the date is February 13

The Annual Pioneer Dinner:

Traditionally held on the nearest Saturday to 25 April.  The dinner is open to the public and celebrates the work of the Port Fairy and district pioneers.    Currently, under review.

The Annual Casino Commemorative Ceremony:   

Each year on the anniversary of the loss of the S.S. Casino (July 10 1932) the members of the Historical Society and other interested people gather at the Casino Memorial on King George Square at 11am to remember those who lost their life in this tragic shipwreck.

Historic Walks or Bus Tours:                                                                  

Conducted by members of the society.

Wedding ceremonies can be held at the Courthouse.   The courtroom will hold approximately 75 guests and the room can be arranged to suit the wedding party.  The Courthouse is also an ideal back-up venue for an outdoor wedding should the weather be inclement.
